Overview

Objective:
Build a tool that will help support the Asian American community during this time.
my motivations:
I had been living by Oakland Chinatown for the last few months and it made me sad that the older residents were too scared to leave their apartments in the evening.
technologies:
React, React-Bootstrap, Firestore, Python.
Current solutions:
There are crime-tracking apps like Citizen, but these apps are more often than not hubs for rubbernecking and sources of stress. That's why we decided to emphasize the ability to ask for help with daily tasks (e.g. walking to the grocery store, moving boxes) as well as the ability to report crime.
The final product:
A prototype of an app that lets community members see where crimes are happening, request help and respond to requests for help, and compiles and displays data on the kinds of crimes that occur.
